Born in Ankara in 1969, Yalım graduated from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in 1993.
Since 1996, he has continued his architectural and design practice at Artful Architecture and Product Design, where he is a founding partner. Throughout his professional career, he has undertaken interior design projects across a wide range of scales and typologies. His innovative, visionary, and human-centered product designs for contemporary spaces, shaped by his universal perspective, have received numerous internationally recognized design awards. For the past six years, he has also served as a part-time instructor and studio tutor in the Department of Interior Architecture at TED University’s Faculty of Architecture.
Since 2017, Yalım has embraced art as his primary field of practice, focusing predominantly on painting. The geometric foundation rooted in his background in architecture and design has become a defining characteristic of his artistic work. While his practice remains centered on painting, he occasionally expands it through different materials and modes of expression. Working with a multidisciplinary approach, he continues his practice at his design office and art studio in Ankara.
Oğuz Yalım’s exhibition, "What If," is a journey of improvisation and exploration, rooted in the idea that everything is subjective and that each new element changes relationships. Yalım paints without sketches, embracing spontaneity to convey hope, discovery, and excitement. Building on previous exhibitions, "Flaneur" and "Kaçış Noktası," "What If" delves deeper into potential and possibility, incorporating both painting and new sculptural forms. With a fresh technique, Yalım’s works encourage the audience to reconnect with their own potential, unlocking their inner creativity and sparking self-reflection.
